“In the power of education, I have always believed… and yet seeing the innocent yet naughty faces, the short and tall kids, and the smiles beaming on their faces among a few shy students opened up a world that I’d never imagined. A world that was soaked in truth all along, and yet a world I wasn’t aware of- a world I knew existed, and yet it was a world where I was taking my first baby step.
What my experience at summer school taught me and I feel has made me progress in these 3 weeks is a struggle I have fought with myself. These three weeks of my summer school, I fought with the doubt I had in myself whether I was good enough, I fought the discrimination I created against myself with my low self confidence. In these three weeks I’ve transformed as a teacher. I’m not even close to where I want to be, but my journey in these three weeks has convinced me that I am on the right path. I’m becoming a better teacher. Hopefully one day I’ll hear these words from my students. “
